The Light of a New Hope

Our traditional lighting of the first Hanukkah candle at Bubny Station brings together all those for whom Hanukkah is a cultural or religious symbol.
The candle will be lit Chief Rabbi of the Czech Republic Karol Efraim Sidon and Chief Rabbi of Prague David Peter.

Šarbilach

Bubny Stition

The Šarbilach orchestra's autumn concert series continues with a performance for the Memorial of Silence at Bubny Station. The event is also an opportunity to remember the orchestra's recently deceased founder, Jaromír Vogel. The audience can look forward to one of the ensemble's most popular pieces, as well as a new composition that the orchestra added this year to its already diverse repertoire.

The concert has been made possible thanks to a contribution from the Endowment Fund for the Victims of the Holocaust, which is funded by the Czech Ministry of Culture.

The End of Ephemerality exhibition opening and closing

With an original set of photographs by Richard Homola depicting the Bubny brownfield, the Memorial of Silence closes the five-year Layers of Memory art project.
The last sculpture in our cycle of ephemeral art objects will be a work by the French sculptor Dominique Defontaines – Figures on an Old Road – which will be unveiled on the Bubny Station train platform with musical accompaniment by Michal Janíček.

Drumming for Bubny 2022

This year is the eighth time that Bubny station is hosting a public happening with a serious undertone. Once again, we will disrupt the silence of the silent majority and call attention to the fact that passively looking on has played and continues to play a role in events that should not have happened. The events that we ignore are proof of that.

This year, more than in any of the previous years, we are all faced with the question of whether to just look on or to express our support – and thus to take a stand. A war is raging not far from the sites of the mass murders committed during the last war, places with which the memory of Bubny station is immediately bound...

Special guest of this mass interruption of the silent majority will be Michael Kocáb.
With an introduction by Pavel Štingl.

The first exhibition of photographs from the Terezín ghetto found in the estate of the journalist Milan Weiner will be held at Bubny Station, a place of memory from which some fifty thousand of Prague's Jewish citizens were deported to the wartime ghettos and concentration and extermination camps.

The collection of forty-one photographs taken in 1942–1944 includes stylized portraits of the ghetto's residents and secretly shot images of life in Terezín. Their introduction preceded by an attempt at identifying the portrayed individuals. These efforts yielded new grand stories of the twentieth century, the discovery of which is a new experience that we now share with the public.

For schools, we have put together guided tours followed by a dialogue with old photographs in the Album G.T. Studio.
