Drumming for Bubny
October 2015
October 16, 2015 annually commemorates the day of the first Jewish transport set out from Prague in 1941. The survivors and their families meet regularly at a bronze relief by Helga Hošková at the Parkhotel.
The Memorial of Silence team is preparing for this occasion a major public event, which will take place in the railway station area, under the statue of the Gate of Infinity.
The event will be open for everyone who is not indifferent to the fact that Prague lost 50,000 of its citizens, who perished, and that by the deportations of Prague Jews and by the expulsion of the Prague Germans the city lost its traditional identity ... and especially that the transports took place while the city kept silent. Drumming for Bubny will be a meeting for all those who want to actively express their attitude to the silent majority. For more information see our website, Facebook, Twitter and HitHit.

UNITED ISLANDS OF PRAGUE at the BUBNY RAILWAY STATION
June 18, 2015
Památník šoa Praha hosted the music festival United Islands of Prague at the Bubny railway station on June 18, 2015 with a concert of three bands featuring music of various European cultures in a modern style. Thank you for joining us!
6:45 -7:30 p.m. DESHANE, the trio will provide for some Scandinavian tunes. Originally, the band was formed by two musicians known as Deshi (wind instruments, didgeridoo), who invited the Norwegian jazz singer Ane Bjerken to join them. The trio will first cool you down with some melancholic Norwegian folk music before putting you under a spell with shamanistic sounds of the didgeridoo, to finally welcome you back in Europe with arched note sequences of their wind instruments.
8:00 – 8:45 p.m. DŽEZVICA, the Balkan tunes have not disappeared from the Czech music scene. The torch has been taken up by seven musicians from the Dzezvica formation. The band's style is far from the typical idea of Balkan brass music. Although it's been partially inspired by it, it has its own, characteristic style, which can be also attributed to the Dzezvica's line-up: accordion, guitar, cajón, cello, viola, clarinet and flute.
9:15 - 10:00 p.m. PONK, a post-folklore dulcimer trio that's been successfully breaking down prejudices about folk music. It uses a modest number of instruments (dulcimer, bass, violin and vocals) to produce interesting sounds – an eclectic combination of folk music with blues, rock, funk and R'n'B elements and influences from other musical styles.
